When taking a sky-high catch, Ruturaj Gaikwad collides with Shivam Dube

During India’s second T20I match against Ireland on August 20, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube, colleagues with the Chennai Super Kings, found themselves in an embarrassing predicament when attempting a high catch. The incident happened during Ireland’s third over of batting when Irish batsman Lorcan Tucker decided to pull a short ball from Indian bowler Prasidh Krishna. Tucker mistimed the effort because he was confused by the slower tempo, and the ball landed on the edge of his bat. It took off quickly and seemed to be landing in the middle of the area.

Both Gaikwad and Dube followed the path of the ball, which caused a brief lapse of concentration on the part of the two fielders. Before Gaikwad finished the take, they briefly collided as well.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was seen requesting Shivam Dube to listen to his call after the successful attempt. Before joining the other Indian players in the celebration, the two young people exchanged a warm grin.

Prasidh Krishna’s second victim in that round was Lorcan Tucker. The right-arm pacer had earlier used a short-pitched delivery in the third ball to snare Ireland skipper Paul Stirling for a catch.

Stirling chose to take a pull shot, much like Tucker, but she was unsuccessful in centering it. When it seemed that the ball would fall in no man’s land, Arshdeep Singh displayed his agility. The young pacer grabbed the catch as she came sprinting from the fine-leg area.

Ruturaj Gaikwad not only helped his team out with his fielding abilities, but he also batted well for India in the second T20I. He and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings, and he went on to record his second half-century in the format in international play. Gaikwad hit six boundaries and a maximum on way to his 58-run innings, which took 43 balls. Shivam Dube, who entered the game late, too showed off his powerhouse abilities by scoring an unbroken 22, which included two enormous sixes.

India scored 185 runs in 20 overs because to stellar batting performances from Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh. Singh scored a scorching 38 runs in only 38 balls, including two fours and three maximums, while Samson scored 40 runs in just 26 balls.

Ireland lost three wickets when chasing the target during the powerplay. Opening batsman Andrew Balbirnie attempted to save them with a strong 72-run innings. He did not, however, get the required support from the other hitters. Finally, the hosts fell 33 runs shy of the necessary total.
