PM Modi dedicates a new parliamentary structure

On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the new Parliament building. Om Birla, the speaker of the Lok Sabha, greeted Modi as he entered the Parliament building via Gate No. 1 while wearing traditional clothing.

The prime minister did “Ganapati Homam” to ask Gods to bless the opening of the new Parliament building amid Vedic chanting by monks from Karnataka's Shringeri Math.

With the sacred sceptre in hand, the prime minister bowed before the “Sengol” and asked for blessings from high priests of several adheenams in Tamil Nadu. As 'nadaswaram' music played and Vedic mantras were chanted, Modi then took the 'Sengol' in a procession to the new Parliament building where he placed it in a special enclosure to the right of the Speaker's chair in the Lok Sabha chamber.

Chief ministers of numerous states, including S Jaishankar, Jitendra Singh, Amit Shah, and Rajnath Singh, as well as BJP president J P Nadda, were present. The new Parliament building's construction workers received commendations from the prime minister.
